Noise-suppression Transformers

Noise-suppression transformers are transformers having a shielded winding structure for reduced stray capacitance and insulation characteristics between their primary and secondary coils, as well as implementing filter characteristics through externally disposed reactors and capacitors. These are insulated transformers for effective suppression of the high-frequency noise components of the current on the power line.

The electrical characteristics and safety of these transformers have been certified by third-party certification organizations to be in compliance with the requirements of the double-certified series EN 61558-2-4 as well as UL 506 and CSA standards (C 22.2), or with the UL 506 and CSA standards (C 22.2) of the UL-certified series. Insulation systems are adopted that take into account operating environments with demanding conditions (severe contamination levels), providing suitable tolerance for assembly in equipment compliant with overseas standards. Improving noise-suppression characteristics can be accomplished merely by boosting filtering effectiveness such as by worsening the degree of coupling between the primary and secondary coils or increasing internal impedance (inductance components), but under the provisions for transformer protection coordination established by the EN (IEC) standards, such measures are restricted to increasing the internal impedance. For this reason, our noise-suppression transformers are designed with emphasis on electrical characteristics as transformers and balance with noise-suppression and other electrical characteristics, thereby preventing any worsening of voltage regulation. These characteristics improve voltage stability in such conditions as loads with a poor power factor or sudden changes in load current.
